Pakistan Navy Flotilla visits Muscat; Holds Professional interactions, share experiences with Royal Navy of Oman

Islamabad, January 04, 2018 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Navy Flotilla comprising Submarine HURMAT along with sail ship PNS RAHNAWARD and support ship PNS RASADGAR visited Muscat for good will cum training visit. Commander Submarines, Commodore Altaf Hussain commanded the flotilla as Mission Commander.

On arrival at port Sultan Qaboos, the ships were given a warm welcome by Royal Navy of Oman (RNO). During the visit, Mission Commander and Commanding Officers of PN ships and submarine held important meetings with various RNO officials. A large number of RNO personnel, Pakistani expatriates in Oman, military/ naval attaches and officers from Sultan Armed Forces visited PN units.

The visit was aimed at improving interoperability and strengthening of bilateral ties between the two navies and creating opportunities for learning from each other’s experiences. The visit afforded crews of visiting ships to hold professional interactions with the personnel of Royal Navy of Oman.

On completion of port visit, while leaving Port Sultan Qaboos, PN sail ship RAHNAWARD sailed together with RNO sail ship SHABAB OMAN-II. Both ships also exchanged crew members on this occasion for sharing of experiences in the art of sailing.

Chief Justice of Pakistan takes suo moto notice on the conditions of Government Hospitals in Lahore

Islamabad, January 04, 2018 (PPI-OT):The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has taken suo moto notice on conditions of Government Hospitals in Lahore. In this regard notices have been issued to all the Medical Superintends of 19 Government Hospitals of Lahore. All the Medical Superintendents have been directed to appear in Court in person on 06.01.2018 (Saturday) at Supreme Court Branch Registry Lahore along with detailed report as to availability of emergency machinery/equipments i.e. ventilators, oxygen, incubators OTs facility, Angiography Machines, CT Scan, MRI, Ambulances, etc. Reports are desired to also explain the position as to availability of life saving drugs and the medicines that are being provided to the patients of free of cost and the medicines which they have to purchase from outside.

Hon’ble Chief Justice has further desired to have details as to availability of required qualified doctors and nursing staff. All the Medical Superintendents of the 19 Government Hospitals have been called to be present in-person along with referred detailed reports reflecting the positions of respective hospitals. There has been much hue and cry from the public complaining the non-availability of even life saving drugs and non-functional emergency equipments.

Impressive fire power display by Pakistan Navy in North Arabian Sea

Karachi, January 03, 2018 (PPI-OT):In an impressive fire power display, Live Weapon Firing was conducted by Pakistan Navy’s newly commissioned Fast Attack Craft (Missile), PNS HIMMAT in the North Arabian Sea. PNS HIMMAT fired indigenously developed Harbah Naval Cruise Missile, which is a Surface to Surface anti-ship missile with Land Attack capability. The missile accurately hit its target signifying the impressive capabilities of Harbah Naval Weapon System.

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi witnessed the firing on board Pakistan Navy Ship ALAMGIR. The successful live weapon firing has once again demonstrated the credible fire power of Pakistan Navy and the impeccable level of indigenization in high tech weaponry achieved by Pakistan’s defence industry. This is a clear manifestation of Government’s resolve to achieve self-reliance in this field.

On this occasion, Chief of the Naval Staff expressed his utmost satisfaction on the operational readiness of Pakistan Navy Fleet units and commended the efforts of all those involved in achieving this significant milestone successfully. He emphasized the need to capitalize on indigenous defence capabilities and reduce reliance on foreign countries. Chief of the Naval Staff reaffirmed the resolve of Pakistan Navy to ensure seaward defence of Pakistan and safeguard national maritime interests at all costs. Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi also appreciated the efforts made by our Engineers and Researchers in making Harbah Naval Weapon System project a success.
