Protests Cause Rs190b Daily Loss to Pakistan: Finance Minister.

Islamabad: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said the ongoing protests by the opposition are resulting in a daily loss of one-hundred and ninety billion rupees to the federal government.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Finance Ministry has compiled a report which states that the country’s GDP is suffering a daily loss of one-hundred and forty-four billion rupees due to the protests. The report highlights the economic burden posed by the ongoing political unrest.

The Finance Minister noted that the losses to the IT and telecom sector are not included in this assessment, suggesting the actual economic impact could be even greater. This omission points to potential underestimation of the comprehensive economic damage.

Muhammad Aurangzeb further detailed that daily export-related losses amount to twenty-six billion rupees, while foreign investments are suffering a daily setback of three billion rupees. These figures illustrate the broad impact of the protests on Pakistan’s economic activity and investm
ent climate.

As a result, the federal government alone is incurring losses of one-hundred ninety billion rupees each day, with provincial losses expected to be even higher. The overall economic toll highlights the urgent need for resolution to minimize further financial detriment.
