Islamabad: Pakistan and Belarus have expressed the resolve to explore and capitalize on the untapped potential in trade and industrial collaboration. This declaration was made during a meeting between Pakistan's Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, and Belarusian Minister for Industries, Aliaksandr Yafimua, in Islamabad.According to Radio Pakistan, Rana Tanveer Hussain emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral relations, particularly in the industrial and agricultural sectors. He advocated for increased industrial cooperation between the two nations across various fields. He noted that Pakistan holds considerable export potential with Belarus for products such as inflatable footballs, bedding items, sports and outdoor equipment, footwear, and rubber, plastic, and metal goods.Both parties reiterated their commitment to advancing the partnership between Pakistan and Belarus in multifaceted areas. Aliaksandr Yafimua highlighted that Belarus imports goods worth $17.2 billion an nually, and Pakistan's current share in this trade does not reflect its true export potential. He assured that Pakistani products will be accommodated in the Belarusian market and identified key products that could be exported from Pakistan to Belarus.Rana Tanveer Hussain extended an invitation to his Belarusian counterpart to commence a pilot project focused on enhancing agricultural productivity in Pakistan. He mentioned that M/s Millat Group, which deals in agricultural machinery, is interested in a joint venture for manufacturing agricultural equipment in Pakistan. The meeting also explored potential Belarusian investment and joint ventures in the electric vehicle sector.Additionally, the two ministers discussed opportunities to boost cooperation in the Small Medium Enterprises sector. Currently, a joint collaboration between the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority of Pakistan and the Belarusian Fund for Financial Support of Entrepreneurs is under consideration.
