Islamabad: A meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad today decided to restructure the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Speaking on the occasion, the Interior Minister called for a comprehensive plan in this regard. He directed immediate work on necessary amendments in laws and rules to make the institution more effective. The Interior Minister also approved the immediate provision of modern technology and required weaponry for the FIA.
According to Radio Pakistan, Mohsin Naqvi said performance-based incentives will be given to the FIA. He emphasized a strong crackdown on the mafia involved in illegal immigration. He said stopping elements responsible for tarnishing the country's reputation is the FIA's foremost responsibility. The Interior Minister directed that immigration procedures at airports be simplified for the convenience of the people. He directed the FIA to establish fast track centers.
