Minorities Enjoy Equal Rights in Pakistan: Yousaf


Islamabad: Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf declared that minorities in Pakistan enjoy equal rights and complete independence. He made these remarks during a ceremony celebrating the Holi festival held in Islamabad, organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister emphasized that Pakistan is a peaceful nation where all citizens are afforded the rights and facilities guaranteed by the Constitution. He underscored the significant role that minorities play in the country’s development, noting their representation in the Senate, National Assembly, and provincial assemblies.



Sardar Muhammad Yousaf highlighted the allocation of separate funds for the welfare of minorities and the maintenance of their religious sites. He also mentioned that a five percent employment quota is reserved for minority communities. Additionally, he condemned the ongoing atrocities in Gaza by Israel and affirmed Pakistan’s consistent support for Palestinian rights.



Minister of State for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Kesoo Mal Kheal Das also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the crucial role of minorities in the progress and prosperity of Pakistan. He expressed serious concerns regarding the international human rights organizations’ silence on the brutalities against Muslims in Gaza and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.



The event saw the participation of leading members of religious minorities, including women and children, who gathered to celebrate the occasion together.
