He deplored that the culprits involved in heinous crimes like Kunan Poshpora, Shopian, Banihal and others were not punished despite the passage of several years rather they ware wandering freely.

Shabbir Ahmad Shah and other Hurriyet leaders said that India had failed to suppress the ongoing liberation movement despite use of brute force on innocent Kashmiris as the people of Kashmir would take the movement to its logical conclusion. The veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani also addressed the gathering via telephone. People on the occasion raised high-pitched slogans like “We want freedom”, “Go India Go” and “Pakistan Zindabad”.

The public gathering was organized to pay homage to two Kashmiri girls, Aasiya and Neelofar who were abducted, raped and subsequently killed by Indian men in uniform in May 2009.
