Srinagar ,March 06, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, puppet Chief Minister Omar Abdullah broke down in the so-called Legislative Assembly over the killing of a youth by Indian troops in Baramulla town, saying the Army action on the protesters was unjustified.
As soon as second session of the Assembly began and when Omar was scheduled to respond to the discussion on Governor’s inaugural address, opposition Peoples Democratic Party members stood up on their seats and raised the issue of killing of the youth and demanded a statement from the regime.
Visibly upset over the killing of the youth in army firing, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that he was tired of such happenings. He even refused to reply on the Governor’s address saying he was “hurt to the extent” that he has no words “to praise my own government”.
The Chief Minister admitted that the youth was innocent and killed in unprovoked firing. “As per my information there was no militant in the crowd or no fire was opened on the army”, he said adding, “Even if there was stone pelting, the killing was unjustified.” “
They (opposition) members have done right by staging a walkout. They can do it. I am equally pained and grieved but my chair does not allow me to take such step”, Abdullah said.
“I am unable to understand why people are so desperate to take the chair I am holding. I am realizing my compulsions today. I am realizing how difficult is to hold this chair and I am answerless.” “Is this (killing of innocents) for what we are holding the” Indian flag in our hand? Omar shouted in high pitch.
“Mujay Har Baar Logoon Ko Jawab Dena Padta Hai. Har Baar Mujay Har Goli Ka Hisab Dena Padta Hai,” he said.
“Someone is hanged in Delhi. Someone takes the decision. Others execute it. And I am held responsible and answerable.” He said that he is answerable to the people but has no answers. “Yeh Meray Log Hain. Mujay Bi Is Riyasat Main Rehna Hai. Kis Kay Paas Jawoon Ga. Kahan Jawoon Ga. Main Un Say Kya Kahoon Ga. Main Kya Jawab Doon.”
“What should be my answer, when I am even unable to prosecute the army personnel who have carried out such killing”, Omar said adding, “This is why I have been demanding revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act.”
Justifying his demand for AFSPA revocation, he said if Irom Sharmila of Manipur can fast in protest against AFSPA for 12 long years, why can’t he just speak against it. “A lady is on fast for last 12 years, only for the removal of AFSPA. In her comparison, I have done nothing, I am just talking about its revocation.”
The Chief Minister referred to the recent attack by the Naxalites on the Indian Air Force helicopter in Dantewada, Chattisgarh, and said when you don’t need AFSPA there why do you need the Act in Kashmir.
