Karachi, March 14, 2013 (PPI-OT): USA is Pakistan’s major trade partner, and facilitating legitimate businessmen to travel to USA from Pakistan furthers bilateral trade relations. This was stated by Mr. S.M. Muneer, former President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry and senior business leader while chairing a session on business visas arranged by the US Consulate General in Karachi in collaboration with FPCCI at the FPCCI Head Office.
A team from the Consulate General of the United States in Karachi led by the Deputy Consular Chief Ms. Kelly Kopcial visited FPCCI on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 to explain how the USA is facilitating legitimate business travel. She outlined the USA visa process and followed her informative presentation with a question and answer session. Ms. Kopcial’s presentation detailed how the visa process operates, which brought greater understanding to the FPCCI members.
While welcoming the team, Mr. S.M. Muneer said that several businessmen wished to travel from Pakistan to USA every year for the purpose of meeting business partners, exploring markets, as trade delegates and in order to participate in exhibitions.
On the other hand, delay in issuing visas hindered their travel schedules, and was the cause of unfortunate inconvenience. He requested the US Consulate to expedite visas for businessmen recommended by FPCCI, which was the national trade body, and therefore could vouch for the legitimacy of the recommended individuals.
The meeting was concluded with presentation of the FPCCI Crest to Ms. Kopcial. Also present on the occasion were Mr. Abdul Shakoor Khatri, Sheikh Humayun Sayeed, Mr. Waheed Shah, Mr. Ubaidullah Qadri, Mr. Gulzar Feroz and others.
