Karachi, August 19, 2015 (PPI-OT):Provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said a joint monitoring team of USAID in collaboration with Health Department to be formed to keep check and balance over vertical programmes such as Vaccination, Hepatitis, EPI and other programmes to save the life of the people specially children and mothers. This he said while talking to a delegation of Health Systems Strengthening Component of USAID’s MCH Program here in his office on Wednesday.
Dr. Nabeela Ali, Nancy Brady MPH, Dr. Shahzad, Dr. Dileep, DG Health Murad Hasan Shah, Special Secretary Riaz Memon and others were also present on the occasion. He said that there was high time to focus on safe delivery, vaccination, primary health care and district management effectiveness.
Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar added, “If basic health units work properly, many lives can be saved and critical medicines will be made available at these centres in order to facilitate the patients.’ He said that Sindh Government was trying to make access of all the people of the provinces to medical care facilities and to improve district management of health sector.
Minister for health assured the members of delegation that the awareness program on routine immunization would be launched in first phase in 7 districts while gradually it would cover all 23 districts of province and to monitor the program 7 members committee under Secretary Health has been formed.
He agreed upon with the suggestion of delegation that communities should be engaged to get the objectives. Dr. Nabeela Ali told that USAID was ready to provide all kinds of support including technical support to improve primary health care facilities in the province. Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Husain Dahar told them that Sindh Health Department had best team and we were making drastic reforms in Health Department.
