Islamabad, October 24, 2012 (PPI-OT): Secretary, Water and Power Mrs. Nargis Sethi has directed all the DISCOs to maximize efforts to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the Eid prayers in Mosques across the country.
This direction was given by Secretary, Water and Power in a teleconference this morning, attended by CEOs of all DICSOs and officials of Ministry of Water and Power.
The Secretary, Water and Power also directed to ensure proper placement of duties of the maintenance staff by all the DICSOs during Eid holidays to provide immediate relief to all people in case of any emergency situation. She also directed for circulation of telephone numbers and other information of the maintenance staff to the public.
All the CEOs were further directed to minimize the load shedding efficient utilization of available power capacity and better implementation of the plan during Eid holidays. During the teleconference it was decided to hold a teleconference on the evening of Eid day with DISCOs to effectively monitor implementation of the Eid plan.
It was further decided that all power distribution companies, their field offices and the concerned department at Ministry of Water and Power would remain open during the Eid holidays with the required personnel to facilitate the public. Secretary, Water and Power will personally supervise the operations during Eid holidays.
Overall generation capacity and distribution situation was discussed in details during the teleconference. Actual availability of electricity to all DICSOs was also reviewed during the conference.
Secretary, Water and Power in her remarks said that current initiative of recoveries of dues would further improve the power situation in the country. She urged all the DICSOs to intensify their recoveries drive indiscriminately. She also appealed to the consumers to pay their bills on time so that the Ministry of Water and Power is encouraged to serve them in an efficient and transparent manner.
