Srinagar, August 07, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, representatives of trade and businesses community have said that they will chalk out a strategy in consultation with the Joint Resistance Leadership to thwart Indian efforts for abrogation of Article 35-A. Several representatives of Kashmir-based trade bodies who hit the streets protesting the onslaught on the special status of Jammu and Kashmir in a statement in Srinagar said that they were ready to adhere to any programme announced by the JRL to protect special status of the territory.

A group of traders associated with Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) during a press conference in Srinagar said they will be consulting the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) to chalk-out a future strategy for upping the ante against tinkering with Article 35-A.

Earlier, Indian police prevented a protest rally of Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) against the proposed abrogation of the Article 35-A when it attempted to proceed towards the office of United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) at Sonwar in Srinagar and arrested scores of traders. Students of a government education institution shouted pro-freedom slogans during a protest over Article 35-A. The protest was held on Jammu-Poonch Highway at Bhata Dhurian village of Mendhar.
