Srinagar, January 30, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, expressing deep concern over the miserable plight of Kashmiri political prisoners has demanded their immediate release.
Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar said that many Kashmiris had been rotting in jails of occupied Kashmir and India for the past several years. He said that most of the prisoners had been denied a fair chance to defend themselves in courts. He deplored the silence of world human rights organizations over the continued illegal detention of the Kashmiri political prisoners. He also condemned nocturnal raids on the residences of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader, Mufti Abdul Ahad, and his brother, Muhammad Shafi Rathar at Tarzoo in Sopore area of Baramulla and arrest of Mufti Ahad and his two nephews.
Meanwhile, senior leader of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat forum, Bilal Ghani Lone, has renamed his party the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference as Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Independent Movement. The announcement in this regard was made by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq during a press conference at the forum’s Raj Bagh office in Srinagar, today.
The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement, Zafar Akbar Butt, along with a delegation visited different areas of Ganderbal district and expressed solidarity with the families of martyred and illegally detained Kashmiris. The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, addressing a condolence meeting in Sallar Kathsoo area of Pahalgam said that the Kashmir dispute was the main cause of immense sufferings of the people of occupied Kashmir. A delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League headed by its General Secretary, Muhammad Rafique Ganai, visited Kareemabad area of Pulwama and paid rich tributes to the youth martyred by Indian troops.
The Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir denounced the torturing of youth by Indian police at Reshipora village in Awantipora area of Pulwama district. A spokesman of the Jamaat in a statement in Srinagar said that the youth were ruthlessly beaten by the police after summoning them to a police post.
On the other hand, Indian troops continued massive cordon and search operations in Samba, Pulwama and Kulgam districts on the second consecutive day, today. Three civilians were injured after unidentified persons hurled a grenade towards Damhal-Hanjipora Police station in Kulgam district, today.
