Rich tributes paid to Sopore martyrs

Srinagar, January 07, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, APHC leader and Chairman of Islamic Political Party Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash has paid glorious tributes to the martyrs of Sopore, who fell victim to the Indian state terrorism in 1993.

Muhammad Yousuf Naqash while presiding over a party meeting in Srinagar said that the people of Kashmir were indebted to their great martyrs who cherished the ongoing movement for securing the right to self-determination with their blood, said a statement. The APHC leader reiterated the Kashmiris’ commitment to take the martyrs’ mission to its logical conclusion without any further delay. Naqash stressed the party leaders and activists to remain vigilant about the Indian oppressive tactics and conspiracies against the ongoing movement.

On this day in 1993, more than 50 people were martyred and hundreds other injured when the troops of Indian Border Security Force resorted to indiscriminate firing in Sopore in vengeance of the killing of their two colleagues in an attack. The troops had set the market of the town ablaze gutting down more than 350 shops and other structures.
