Punjab University awards PhD degrees to 14 candidates

Lahore: Punjab University has awarded PhD degrees to Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui S/o Mumtaz Ahmad Siddiqui in the subject of Mycology and Plant Pathology after approval of his research thesis entitled “Effect of Soil Solarisation on the Survival of Soil Mycoflora With Special Reference to the Control of Chickpea (Cicer Arietinum Linn.)

(S and H,M and C),” Zafar Iqbal S/o Wali Muhammad in the subject of Education after approval of his research thesis entitled “Effect of Class Talk on Students’ Understanding of Science Concepts,” Muhammad Saleem Khalid S/o Muhammad Din in the subject of Urdu after approval of his research thesis entitled “The Contribution of Ulema in the Development of Urdu Prose,” Khurshid Alam S/o Sayed Roshal in the subject of Earth and Environmental Sciences after approval of his research thesis entitled “Evaluation of Aquifer System in Quetta Valley Through Geophysical Methods and Groundwater Flow Modelling,” Syed Karrar Haider S/o Syed Fida Hussain in the subject of Physics after approval of his research thesis entitled “A Study of the Mechanical Properties of Irradiated Titanium and its Alloys at Low Temperatures,” Mushtaq Ahmad S/o Muhammad Hussain Malik in the subject of Education after approval of his research thesis entitled “Effect of Problem Solving Teaching Strategy on the Performance of 8th Grade Students,” Rana Malik D/o Salah ud Din Malik in the subject of Education after approval of her research thesis entitled “Gender Differences in Academic Achievement and Personality Development in Single-Sex and Coeducational Primary Schools,” Ismat Fatima D/o Malik Muhammad Hussain in the subject of Chemistry after approval of her research thesis entitled “Synthesis of Purine Derivatives as Potential Ant thyroid Agents,” Rehana Qureshi D/o Muhammad Aslam Qureshi in the subject of Education after approval of her research thesis entitled “Bartanvi Hind Main Musilmanoon Ke Taleemi Tahreekain Aur In Kay Asrat ka Tanqidi Jaiza,” Khalid Hameed S/o Abdul Hameed in the subject of Islamic Studies after approval of his research thesis entitled “Ibn Qayyim’s Theory Regarding Objectives of Shariah and its Applications in Contemporary Age,” Shafqat Rasool S/o Ghulam Rasool in the subject of Education after approval of his research thesis entitled “A Comparative Study of the Quality Assurance Practices in Public and Private Universities,” Zubair Ahmad Shah S/o Abdur Razzaq Shah in the subject of Education after approval of his research thesis entitled “Analysis of Cognitive Demands of the Concepts Taught in General Science at 8th Grade, Piagetian Developmental Levels of Students and their Attitude towards Learning of Science,” Muhammad Rafiq S/o Muhammad Sharif in the subject of Islamic Studies after approval of his research thesis entitled “Hostility Against Islam in the Holy Prophet’s Regime-Its Nature and Motives” and Faisal Tehseen Shah S/o Muhammad Mumtaz Shah in the subject of Total Quality Management after approval of his research thesis entitled “Optimum Software Process Improvement Paradigm for Quality Practices in Software Industry.”

They have completed their theses under the supervision of Prof Dr Rukhsana Bajwa, Dr Nasir Mahmood, Prof Dr Tehsin Firaqi, Prof Dr Nasir Ahmad, Prof Dr Khadim Hussain, Prof Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Prof (R) Dr Munawar S. Mirza, Prof Dr Munawar Ali Munawar, Prof Dr Mahr Muhammad Saeed Akhtar, Dr Muhammad Saad Siddiqui, Prof Dr Mahr Muhammad Saeed Akhtar, Dr Nasir Mahmood, Prof Dr Hafiz Mahmood Akhtar, Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad, respectively.
