Prime Minister meets Polio affected people, administers vaccine to children

Islamabad, October 24, 2014 (PPI-OT): A ceremony was held at the PM’s House here today in connection with the World Polio Day.

On this occasion Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif met polio affected children and their parents. He also administered polio vaccine drops to children.

Talking to them the Prime Minister expressed the commitment of the government of Pakistan towards eradicating Polio for which all resources are being made available.

He said the PM’s Office has recently taken a Polio Eradication Initiative for directly monitoring and reviewing progress on this matter of utmost importance. He said a PM’s Focus Group for Polio Emergency has also been constituted to hold monthly meetings to assess the performance of the polio eradication program.

The Prime Minister said a comprehensive Communication Strategy is being evolved that promotes all immunization as right of the child calling upon every segment of the society to ensure children are given this right.
