Karachi, May 02, 2016 (PPI-OT):Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif inaugurated and performed the ground breaking of two important natural gas distribution projects in Balochistan. The plaque unveiling ceremony held at the Governor House, Quetta was marked by the inauguration of 16″ dia., 40-km Quetta to Mastung gas pipeline and ground breaking of a 55-km pipeline for supplying gas to Inayatullah Karez district Qilla Abdullah. Khalid Rahman, MD, SSGC was also present on the occasion. Also on the occasion to witness the ceremony were Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai, Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Jam Kamal Khan and other senior government officials.
MD, SSGC briefed the Prime Minister on the salient features of each of the project. Work on the augmentation of Rs. 840 million Quetta-Mastung-Kalat gas pipelines began in June last year and was completed in two phases by October 2015. More than 12,000 residents of Mastung, Kalat and en-route villages stand to benefit from this project that has helped solve the low pressure problem faced by the population for long time.
The reinforcement will further enhance gas distribution capacity of the system. The Prime Minister also carried out the ground breaking of Rs. 571 million, 55-km 16″ pipeline for supply of gas to Inayatullah Karez located in District Killa Abdullah. The projects will make a substantial impact in enhancing the quality of life of the residents of the province and will also contribute in saving line losses.
