Islamabad, November 13, 2012 (PPI-OT): President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari has conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Speaker National Assembly on successful holding of 6th SAARC Speakers and Parliamentarians Conference in Islamabad on November 4-6, 2012. The President conveyed his felicitations through a letter address to Dr. Fehmida Mira, Speaker National Assembly.
The President said that the Conference played an instrumental role in projecting our unremitting commitment to the meaningful participating democracy in South Asia and strengthening people-to-people contacts. He believed that the region has a destiny which could be realized through meaningful and sincere collaborative actions of the SAARC member states.
The forum of the Association of SAARC Speakers and Parliamentarians can play its part for cementing regional integration with a view to achieving accelerated socio-economic development, the President remarked.
The President said that he would like to recognize Speaker’s great personal contribution for making excellent arrangements for the events and for projecting Pakistan’s positive image. He hoped that she would continue to work for strengthening parliamentary democracy and to achieving the objectives of regional cooperation through parliamentary diplomacy.
The President was confident that our concerted efforts would create conducive atmosphere for transforming the lives of the millions of people in South Asia. Please accept my sincere compliments on your efforts and very best wishes for this great cause, he said.
