Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Iraq calls on President

Islamabad, March 17, 2014 (PPI-OT): Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Iraq, Mr. M. Iftikhar Anjum, today called on President Mamnoon Hussain at the Aiwan-e-Sadr and discussed matters pertaining to his diplomatic assignment.

Congratulating Mr. Iftikhar Anjum on his new responsibilities, the President urged him to focus on further cementing Pakistan’s close and cordial relations with Iraq.

The President said that government attaches great importance to the development of trade and economic cooperation as an integral part of its foreign policy objectives and emphasized the need for pursuance of economic diplomacy by all diplomats to further enhance Pakistan’s economic and trade ties with the countries of their posting.

The President remarked that Pakistan values its fraternal bilateral relations with Iraq and advised the ambassador designate to focus on strengthening Pak- Iraq cooperation in diverse areas especially trade, investment, energy, and oil and gas .

The President expressed hope that the newly appointed ambassador would work with full devotion and use all his potential and capabilities to further cement Pakistan’s trade and commercial ties with Iraq.

The ambassador designate thanked the President for reposing confidence in him and assured that he would do his best to augment Pakistan’s bilateral relations with Iraq with focus on enhancing trade and investment ties.
