Islamabad, August 26, 2013 (PPI-OT): An eleven member Pakistani youth delegation visiting Dubai in connection with 5-day student conference called on the Acting Consul General of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Tariq Wazir here today.
Talking to the participants in a reception hosted in the Consulate, the Consul General said that youth is the future custodian of the society. He observed that promotion of entrepreneurship in youth is a prerequisite to ensure sustained progress of the country. This can be achieved through participation in dialogue on economic and social development, he added.
Mr. Tariq Wazir stressed upon the members of the Pakistani Youth delegation to project the true picture of the Pakistani society by highlighting its noble values and rich culture during their interaction with students of other countries. He said that it is a good opportunity for the members of the delegation to learn viewpoint of participants from other countries on global challenges.
The Consul General stated that Pakistan is ranked amongst top emerging economies offering a great potential of business. He said over the last three decades, the country has moved in the direction of creating an increasingly larger space for the private sector and establishing a regulatory framework for private investment with a view to protecting and safeguarding interests of all stakeholders.
Mr. Tariq Wazir observed that the PML (N) government has come to the office with a clear economic vision assigning larger share of economic development to private sector and restricting government mainly to regulatory sector. He urged the members of the Youth delegation to highlight these points during their interaction with delegates of the conference.
The student delegation comprised of Alizeh Nasir Hameed (NUST), Maryam Gul (NUST), Mehick Ahmed (NUST), Shehryar Malik (NUST),Mohammad Uzair Arif (NUST), Omar Mushtaq Ahmed (Bahria University), Arsalan Salahuddin Khan (Karachi School for Business and Leadership), Imdad Hussain Tanoli (Sindh Muslim Govt. Law College, Syed Mohammad Fayyaz and the group coordinator Mobisher Rabbani attended the reception.
The conference is being hosted through collaboration of the American University in Dubai (AUD) and Harvard University in connection with the Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations (HPAIR 2013). Delegation of the students from 54 different countries came to Dubai to participate in the conference.
