Pakistan Marble Stone to be introduced in international market: Minister

Islamabad, April 09, 2013 (PPI-OT):

Federal Minister for Industries and Production Shahzada Ahsan Ashraf Sheikh said that Pakistan Marble Stone is of superior quality and need to explore international market for the supply of marble stone. He said that in the country there is no shortage of natural resources, “What we need to do is to exploit these resources according to the international standards and by introducing the finished products in the international markets foreign exchange can be earned”.

He said this while chairing the briefing session about the Pakistan Stone Development Company (PASDEC). He assured that every possible support will be provided to PASDEC for the development of the marble stone industry in Pakistan. He also stressed on exploiting of the granite reserves available in the various part of the country.

The Minister was brief about the working of the PASDEC, its various ongoing projects throughout the country and issues involved. The Minister observed that by promoting stone industry in the trouble area of Pakistan like Balochistan and FATA employment opportunities can be created which will result in the eradication of terrorism and militancy in these regions. “This will lead to the economic prosperity in these areas in particular and the whole country in general”.

Latter, a briefing was given to the Minister on the Pakistan Steel Mills. It was told that Russia is will to provide $1Billion package for the expansion of the Pakistan Steel Mills. The Minister observed that Steel Mills is a strategic asset of the country and its revival and restructuring is vital. The Minister directed the Ministry officials to prepare a detail plan in this regard so that the issue may be put up is next Cabinet Meeting.
