Islamabad: The 5th round of the Pakistan-European Union Dialogue on Non-Proliferation and Disarmament was held in Islamabad. The talks aimed to strengthen cooperation on issues of international and regional peace, security, and strategic stability.
According to Radio Pakistan, the European Union and Pakistan engaged in detailed discussions on disarmament and non-proliferation. The dialogue addressed key agendas such as the UN General Assembly's First Committee, the Conference on Disarmament, and various international conventions including the Biological and Chemical Weapons Conventions.
The dialogue also reviewed recent trends in export controls and evaluated the impact of emerging technologies on global security. This engagement is a crucial component of the broader relationship between the European Union and Pakistan.
Both parties agreed to convene the sixth round of talks in Brussels next year. The Pakistani delegation was led by Ambassador Tahir Andrabi, Additional Foreign Secretary for Arms Control, Disarmament, and International Security, while Ambassador Stephan Klement, EU Special Envoy for Non-Proliferation and Disarmament, led the European Union delegation.
