Overseas Pakistanis Foundation to constitute an Overseas Pakistanis Advisory Consul

Islamabad, September 27, 2016 (PPI-OT):OPF will constitute an Overseas Pakistanis Advisory Consul (OPAC) to ensure the participation of Overseas Pakistanis from all the regions of world, said Barrister Amjad Malik Chairman OPF Governors. Addressing the 134 meeting of OPF Board of Governors here on Tuesday, the Chairman said that the Overseas Pakistanis are the main stakeholder; therefore, their participation in framing the policies for the welfare of Pakistani Diaspora is necessary.

The meeting was attended by Muhammad Zubair Minister of State for Privatization Commission, Khizar Hayat Khan Federal Secretary Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and HRD, Habib ur Rehman Gillani Managing Director OPF, Jhangir Minhas from AJK, Nisar Ahmed Saddique Director Institute of Business Administration.

Barrister Amjad Malik said that OPF is also planning to hold the convention of Overseas Pakistanis in 2017 where in around 400 prominent Pakistani will be invited. He said board has constituted various committees to prepare vision and mission to cope with emerging challenges in future. He said that there is dire need for image building of Pakistan and to pave the way for brining investment in the country.

He said that number of proposal for the betterment of Overseas Pakistanis also came under discussion. He said that in recognition of meritorious and valuable services in all walks of life and their contribution in strengthening the economy of Pakistan through remitting foreign Exchange, the boards resolve to be celebrated 18th December every year the day of Overseas Pakistanis.

Chairman OPF BOG said that OPF has been looking after the affairs of standard Pakistani through the Pak mission Saudi Arabia. He said options have been discussed in the meeting regarding Overseas Pakistanis prisoners in Saudi Arabia due to their unpaid small fines. He said this matter is being taken up with Pak missions in Saudi Arabia particularly to explore the way out for payment of their small fines for their early release.
