Islamabad: National Disaster Management Authority The National Disaster Management Authority has issued an alert regarding weather conditions and potential hazards in the northern areas, Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan.According to Radio Pakistan, the upper parts of the country are expected to experience rain and snowfall accompanied by strong winds in the next two to three days. Due to the expected rainfall, there is a risk of landslides in Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Kashmir, which may lead to road blockages. Traffic on the Karakoram Highway is likely to be affected at various locations due to landslides.Roads in mountainous areas of Chitral, Swat, Upper Dir, and Mansehra may also be impacted. In Muzaffarabad and Neelum Valley, there is a danger of landslides, which could disrupt traffic on major roads. An alert has been issued for landslides in Ziarat, Harnai, Sibi, Musakhel, Sherani, and Loralai in Balochistan. Traffic on National Highways N-50, N-65, and N-70 may be affected due to landslides.Additionally, there is a risk of flooding due to glacial lake outburst in Gilgit-Baltistan. Sudden flooding may occur in various areas including Astore, Skardu, Hunza, and Shigar. NDMA has issued an alert to the relevant authorities regarding preemptive measures.
