Peshawar, May 26, 2016 (PPI-OT):Meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Federal Education and Vocational Training was held at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan. The meeting was chaired by Col. ® Dr. Amir Ullah Khan Marwat and attended besides members of the committee, Vice Chancellors of Universities i.e. Malakand, Mardan, Hazara, Swat, Charsadda and so on, Chairman Higher Education Commission and other related Federal and Provincial official.
The meeting reviewed the performance of the Universities including their budget funding development projects and funds requirements as well as problems faced by them. Chairman of the Standing Committee while appreciating the performance of the universities said that yet we have not reached the destination. However we are moving in that direction.
He further said to improve the educational sector and standard of education we have to mobilize all available resources. He said that a women university and Southern parts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is need of the hour. The committee urged the provincial government to share a 50% security budget of the universities for the protection of the students but also decrease the financial budget of the universities. The committee directed the HEC to grant 1 developmental project to each university.
