Karachi, July 11, 2012 (PPI-OT): Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (KCCI) President Mian Abrar Ahmad, has stated that My Karachi the Oasis of Harmony Exhibition is mega event organized by Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry on 13th July, 2012, the Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, will be the Chief Guest and the large number of Indian, Afghan, and Indonesian exhibitors will participate.
The vision of “My Karachi – Oasis of Harmony” was first outlined eight years ago by the Chairman, Businessmen Group and former President of the KCCI, Mr. Siraj Kassam Teli and since then KCCI is holding this exhibition every year.
He said that over 600,000 visitors come and shops in style, corporate entities meet and strengthen relationships and My Karachi ensures that the image of Pakistan and Karachi is projected and enhanced each year.
Prime objective of this exhibition is to project true image of Pakistan in general and Karachi in particular and to promote the trade and industry in Karachi and elsewhere in Pakistan and abroad. Since its inception in 2004, this exhibition has been designed to be the avenue for interactive “Business-to-Business” linkages, planned to showcase domestic and global products and services and is targeted for domestic and foreign consumers and companies as the focal point to buy and sell.
KCCI’s My-Karachi Exhibition is supported by the Government of Sindh and recognized by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan due to its significance. This year, besides hundreds of domestic exhibitors from Karachi and Pakistan, more than 50 international exhibitors are also participating from India, Indonesia, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. A high power Indian Business delegation headed by the Immediate Past President of Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry is also visiting Karachi on the occasion of My-Karachi Exhibition 2012.
The Indian Exhibitors are representing leading Indian brands from diversified sectors of engineering, I.T., FMCG, Shipping and logistics, textiles, pharmaceutical sectors etc. and would like have business to business meetings with their Pakistani counterparts in the International Pavilion of Karachi Expo Centre.
The aim of this exhibition is to pave the way for trade enhancement and to boost our exports. The exhibition is a chain of efforts by KCCI and its leadership to highlight the “MADE IN PAKISTAN” products and brands to turn their potential into export opportunities. Trade and Commerce is the real identity of Karachi, the hub of Pakistan’s trade, industry and economy. Every year a large number of exhibitors from Pakistan and abroad participate in it and thousands of people visit there.
My Karachi is the largest and serious effort to introduce “EXPORT CULTURE” in Pakistan to pave the way for economic stability, financial strength, import substitution and lessening Pakistan’s dependency on debt and foreign aid.
This year a revolutionary step has been taken by KCCI to bring Pakistani youths talent, potential into lime light and allocated a separate hall for them to exhibit their inventions, projects there to convey the world that this is the real picture of Pakistan and not the one which is propagated by western media. Business community, intellectuals and people from all the walk of life overwhelmingly welcomed this initiative of KCCI and expressed their hope that the exhibition will bring positive change not only in Karachi but also will be helpful to create positive image of Pakistan abroad.
