Muhammad Shabbir excels on second day of 34th Chief of Air Staff Open Golf Championship

Karachi, February 12, 2015 (PPI-OT): Muhammad Shabbir had a fabulous round of golf at Airmen Golf Course on second day of 34th CAS Open Golf Championship. He finished the second round with gross score of 67 over all eight-under-par gross 136. Muhammad Shabbir will be entering the third round tomorrow with over whelming enthusiasm.

However, the four day championship is still wide open with Muhammad Afzal ending the second round five strokes behind the leader with141, while M Ashfaq, Matloob Ahmed, Safder Khan and Akbar Mehrooz jointly following him with gross score of 143.

In senior professional category Muhammad Iqbal from Lahore Gymkhana finished with the gross score of (4) over par 148, while Abdul Ghaffar narrowly missed by dropping a stroke on last hole while finishing the round with (5) over par 149 and achieved the second spot, Akbar Ali finished over all third with the gross score of seven (7) over par 151.

In Amateur main category (Handicap 10 and below) M Sharif is leading with overall net score of 139 on closure of second round. The leader is chased by Zubair Hussain with overall net score of 140. Third spot is so far occupied by Zubair Ahmed with the net score of 144. Match is still open and tomorrow’s score will decide the overall winner in Amateur category.

Golfers from all over Pakistan are representing their associations and clubs. Participants in various categories have appreciated the serene environment of Airmen Golf Course with lush green fairways and tailored greens. Indeed the windy conditions and fairly sunny weather is offering them the challenging golfing conditions.
