Mirwaiz highlights prisoners’ plight through social media

Srinagar, January 26, 2019 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, launched, today, a social media campaign to highlight the miserable plight of the Kashmiri detainees lodged in different jails of the territory and India. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while launching the campaign on twitter said as India celebrates its Republic Day its autocratic rule over Kashmir goes on. He said that thousands of Kashmiris continued to languish in various Indian jails under draconian laws and new ones were added each day.

“As India celebrates becoming a Republic, its autocratic rule over #Kashmir goes on! Thousands of Kashmiris continue to languish in its various jails under its black laws and new ones are added each day! A brief glimpse into the life of some of our prisoners of conscience, a reality check of the republic, as leadership launches the #FreeKashmirPrisoners campaign,” the Mirwaiz wrote. He shared pictures of many detainees along with details about their place of arrest and present detention and the sufferings their families are going through.
