Srinagar, November 10, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, a march from the entire Valley will be conducted towards Jamia Masjid, Srinagar to observe Youm-e-Istiqlal, tomorrow.
The joint Hurriyet leadership comprising Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik have called for the march as part of new protest calendar. Freedom congregations will be held after Friday prayers in Srinagar that will be addressed by the joint resistance leaders.
Meanwhile, Indian police arrested Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik after a raid at his residence in Srinagar, today. He was released from Central Jail in Srinagar on October 29 after four months of illegal detention. The authorities also put Chairman of Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, under house arrest at his Nageen residence in Srinagar.
The illegally-detained APHC General Secretary, Shabbir Ahmad Shah in a statement appealed to the resistance leadership to spearhead the freedom movement while solidifying further the unity in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people. He said that the leadership was the guardian of the martyrs’ invaluable sacrifices for the freedom cause.
Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred one more Kashmiri youth in Baramulla, bringing the death toll to three during the last twenty-four hours in the district. The youth was killed during a violent military operation in Rampur Uri area of the district, today.
The Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, Professor RD Sharma while talking to media persons in the university campus asked why Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani was killed by Indian forces and not caught alive. He said that Jammu and Kashmir was a sensitive issue awaiting solution for the last over 70 years. He urged New Delhi to change its policy on Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chairman of Kashmir Council European Union, Ali Raza Syed, received an award from Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Raja Farooq Haider Khan, for his tireless efforts in promotion of Kashmir cause in Europe. He was given the award at a gathering held in connection with Kashmir EU-Week at European Parliament in Brussels
