Srinagar, March 14, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed its deep concern over the arrest of its legal expert, Mir Assad Ullah, by Indian police terming it a well-planned move to prevent Jamaat from approaching the court to contest the baseless allegations against the socio-religious political party.
The Jamaat-e-Islami in a statement issued in Srinagar said, police called Jamaat senior member, Mir Assad Ullah to Pulwama police station a few days ago, and put him in illegal custody with an aim to stop him from pursuing legal course. The statement said the move is a deliberate attempt on the part of the governor administration to disallow Jamaat to approach court and contest the concocted allegations against it.
‘Since Jamaat is banned, police across the territory have unleashed an arrest spree, which clearly depicts how peaceful voice is being strangulated by repressive and forcible measures? So far troops have rounded up 400 members and associates among some were slapped by the most draconian law Public Safety Act (PSA)’, the statement added.
