Srinagar, December 30, 2012 (PPI-OT): The Kashmiri students undergoing various professional courses in the Indian state of Haryana have said that the college administration and local students are harassing them on one pretext or the other.
A group of students while talking to newsmen in Srinagar over telephone said that the local students and hostel wardens at the Ganga Institute of Technology and Management, Jajjar, Haryana, were harassing them. “They call us terrorists and harass us. The locals beat many of us and abusing us has become their habit. Nobody here comes to our rescue,” said a student hailing from Srinagar.
Another student in a distressed voice said that they were not being allowed to go home. “We don’t want to study here. They hate us and make us feel insecure. We tried to escape and go home but they locked us up inside the hostel premises,” he added.
According to the students, around 90 Kashmiri students are studying in the college. Most of the students are enrolled in B Tech, BBA, etc, they added. The students have appealed to the civil societies of India and the occupied territory to come to their rescue.
