Karachi, August 28, 2013 (PPI-OT): KMC Metropolitan Commissioner Samiuddin Siddiqui has directed KMC Medical Services Department and administrators of all DMCs to provide citizens with awareness campaign to adopt precautionary measures for prevention from dengue fever.
He said that dengue fever was more active during monsoon season and civic administration takes various measures for prevention from this dangerous disease. He directed to expedite spray campaign and concentrate on such areas where dengue patients were in large numbers.
He said a seminar on provincial level with reference to prevention from dengue fever will be held for citizens soon. Awareness campaign would be advertised through print and electronic media and in this connection pamphlets would also be distributed.
He directed Municipal Commissioners of five districts that clean water in swimming pools, tyre shops and nurseries should not be stored for more than three days and spray be performed on water.
He directed that district administration should conduct complete survey and ask tyre shops owners to curb growth of dengue mosquitoes in this connection a meeting was held in the supervision of Sr. Director Medical Services Dr. Muhammad Ali Abbasi in which District Officer Public Health Dr. Aslam Parvez, Director Public Health Mansoor Shaikh, DME Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Director Clinical Dr. Hamid, Dr. Javed and other officers were present.
On this occasion it was informed that following the directives of Administrator Karachi Saqib Soomro necessary medicines along with diagnostic facilities were provided in wards established for dengue patients in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital so that citizens could get timely treatment facility.
Dr. Muhammad Ali Abbasi said basic treatment in dengue fever was very important therefore patients should adopt precautionary measures for prevention from this disease. He said that more units for dengue patients would be established in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Private Hospitals would also be asked to contact with Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for quantity of dengue patients on daily basis and send diagnostic information of dengue patients on email address of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
He informed that mosquito net, medicines and other equipment for dengue patients were being provided by funds received from various countries of the world. KMC was paying special attention on such areas from where a large number of dengue patients were coming to hospitals.
Dr. Muhammad Ali Abbasi said that the people who were affected by dengue once they need to take more care as its second attack was very dangerous. Private hospitals should also diagnose dengue patients properly because such dengue patients were reported in government hospitals whose disease was very critical.
