Karachi Amn Festival Starts from 29th October

Karachi: District Coordination Officer Karachi Roshan Ali Shaikh has said that City District Government Karachi under coordination with the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi begin series of programs under “Karachi Amn Festival” from 29th October, Saturday.

The first of the programs will be held in Heel Park. Afterwards other programs will be held in People’s Football Stadium Lyari, Kati Pahari, Qasba Colony, Sachal Goth and the last one will be staged in Clifton Beach Park.

“The festival is aimed at creating such an atmosphere which could help promoting unity and harmony among the people from different school of thoughts and remove any sense of fear from the hearts of people.” said by DCO Karachi Roshan Ali Shaikh while addressing a press conference in Arts Council on Thursday.

He was accompanied by ACP President Ahmed Shah, Hon. Secretary Prof. Aijaz Farooqui, Vice President Farhad Zaidi, Joint Secretary Amin Yousuf and EDO Community Development Matanat Ali Khan on this occasion.

DCO Karachi said that the Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan had a desire that some work should be done to remove the sense of fear and terror from the hearts of people and to promote unity among all the communities and people from different school of thoughts in Karachi.

He said the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi can play very important role in this connection as its members have pain for people and the artists and writers are considered sensitive people.

DCO Karachi said that sense of ownership of city should be developed in every citizen of Karachi so that people to people contact could create mutual trust among them.

He said that he thanked the Governor and Chief Minister of Sindh for taking interest in the affairs of Arts Council of Pakistan. On the directive of Governor Sindh the grant in aid for ACP was already been enhanced three times and the Chief Minister had issued directives for allocation of 500 acres land for the members of ACP.

Arts Council President Ahmed Shah, Secretary Prof. Aijaz Farooqui and Joint Secretary Amin Yousuf also spoke on this occasion.
