Italian Ambassador calls on Prime Minister

Islamabad, July 26, 2012 (PPI-OT): Italian Ambassador Mr. Adriano Chiodi Cianfarani paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf at the Prime Minister’s House here today and said that it was his mandate to further strengthen the existing bilateral relations.

The Prime Minister welcomed the Ambassador and expressed the hope that during his tenure of diplomatic assignments, the relations would further improve between Pakistan and Italy in the areas of mutual interest.

The Prime Minister said that President’s visit to Italy was very successful in 2009 which was instrumental in bringing the two countries’ even closer.

The Italian expertise in the renewable energy could make yet another success story of cooperation between the two countries, the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister said that Thar Coal is another attractive destination for the Italian investors.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need to have regular high-level exchanges between the two countries.

The Prime Minister appreciated the generous assistance of Italy in the aftermath of earthquake and floods in Pakistan.

The Prime Minister lauded the efforts of the Italian government for extending support to Pakistan in getting access in EU markets.
