Islamabad: The International Day of UN Peacekeepers is being observed today to highlight the role of UN peacekeeping forces for world peace. This day is dedicated to commemorating the efforts of the United Nations in establishing lasting peace in countries afflicted by wars and internal conflicts.

According to Radio Pakistan, over two thousand eight hundred of Pakistan’s military and police personnel are contributing to UN peacekeeping operations in African countries. Pakistan ranks 5th in terms of the number of uniformed personnel participating in these missions. The observance of this day serves as a reminder of the ongoing commitment to eliminate human suffering and maintain global peace.
