Islamabad: Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf has described the increasing state-sponsored persecution of Muslims and other minorities in India as alarming. During his discussion with British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriot in Islamabad, Yousaf highlighted the need for global attention on this issue.
According to Radio Pakistan, Yousaf emphasized that Pakistan has taken significant steps to promote interfaith harmony by increasing the participation of minorities in all sectors. He highlighted the country’s pride in its rich traditions and cultural heritage, which includes immense respect for religious and faith-based diversity.
The British High Commissioner expressed that both Pakistan and the UK can benefit from each other’s experiences in promoting interfaith harmony. She proposed the idea of offering exchange programs and scholarships in the UK for madrassa graduates, fostering greater understanding and cooperation between the two countries.
