Islamabad, April 08, 2013 (PPI-OT): Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Mr. Sohail Wajahat H. Siddiqui has said that human resources are the key to successful functioning of any organization. He said this while chairing a briefing on performance of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Ltd., Sui Southern Gas Company, Oil and Gas Development Company and Pakistan Petroleum Limited which was attended by Secretary Petroleum, Managing Directors of the respective companies and senior officers of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources here in Islamabad today.
The briefing focused on issues pertaining to natural gas supply to various consumers and associated problems being faced by the respective companies. Detailed discussions were held on issues including improving rate of returns, re-prioritization of gas consuming sectors based on economic returns, tariff regime, UFG, gas theft cases and mitigation , existing gas supply contracts and human resource status.
Mr. Sohail Wajahat emphasized upon improving productivity and performance of the companies as they are major contributors to the country’s economy. While providing policy guidelines, the Minister urged upon the Managing Directors to provide unbiased and open suggestions to facilitate company operations. Moreover, it was proposed that a joint working group be formed comprising of senior company officers from SNGPL and SSGCL to work out a realistic and practicable solution to reduce UFG ratio and propose acceptable tariff structure to all stakeholders. MDs of the Sui companies informed the Minister that they are trying to bring 3 % reduction in the UFG.
Minister for Petroleum reiterated that excellence in performance can only be achieved if all the organizations work in tandem and there is need to further strengthen collaboration. Mr. Sohail Wajahat assured that the Ministry would take up emergent and important issues concerning the companies, at the relevant fora for resolution.
In a separate briefing by the Director General, Minerals and the Director General, Geological Survey of Pakistan, regarding extraction and mineral’s development in the country, the Minister emphasized on enhancing coordination with the provincial governments.
