Srinagar, February 24, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court Bar Association has constituted a team that will remain present in the Indian Supreme Court on February 27-28 when the cases relating to Articles 35-A and 370 are likely to come up.
The HCBA in a statement issued in Srinagar said the members of the team include Mian Abdul Qayoom, President, Mohammad Ashraf Butt, General Secretary; Bilal Ahmad Wani, Treasurer, Z.A Shah, Senior Advocate; Z.A Qureshi, Senior Advocate, Altaf Haqani, Advocate; Shabbir Ahmad Budoo, Advocate; Nasir Ahmad Shalla, Advocate; and Syed Musaib, Advocate.
Earlier, in a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Bar, it was stated that though the case is shown in the weekly list commencing from February 26- 28 but as it has not been shown in the daily list issued for February 26, therefore, it is expected to come up for hearing on February 27-28, 2019.
The executive members also expressed serious concern over the arrest and detention of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik and more than 200 activists of Jamat-e-Islami including its ameer, Dr Abdul Hameed Fayaz, and its spokesman, Zahid Ali, Advocate ahead of the hearing of the case by the Supreme Court.
The participants of the meeting demanded immediate release of all those who have been arbitrarily and illegally arrested and detained in police stations, interrogation centres and jails in violation of their right to life and liberty.
