Govt Reaffirms Commitment to Maintain Peace, Criticizes Previous Administration

Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining peace in the country, emphasizing that no one will be allowed to destabilize it. He made these remarks at a joint news conference in Islamabad, alongside Ikhtiar Wali Khan, the Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Information and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Affairs.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Information Minister highlighted the participation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in the funeral prayers of soldiers martyred in a recent terrorist attack in Orakzai district. The Minister honored the sacrifices of the martyred soldiers, noting that their families have expressed pride in their loved ones’ contributions to the country’s peace and protection.

Attaullah Tarar criticized the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government for dismantling the National Action Plan, which he claimed weakened the nation’s counterterrorism efforts. He stated that during PTI’s tenure, terrorists returned to Pakistan, causing significant damage. He credited military operations Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad with restoring peace by dismantling terrorism across the nation.

The Minister accused the PTI’s founding chairman of portraying terrorists positively and advocating for negotiations with them. He stressed that Pakistan’s security policy is formulated in Islamabad and praised the country’s security forces for their resilience against terrorism, asserting that their sacrifices will be honored in history.

In addition, Attaullah Tarar mentioned a recent London court ruling against a PTI supporter, interpreting it as validation of the government’s position. He stated that the ruling exposes the baseless allegations previously made against Pakistan’s state institutions.

Ikhtiar Wali Khan, speaking at the conference, addressed the routine political matter of changing chief ministers in provinces, highlighting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s struggles with poor governance and an increasing terrorism threat. He criticized the PTI founder’s agenda as being against the state and its institutions.

Ikhtiar Wali also claimed that the PTI government left Pakistan on the brink of bankruptcy, but under the current administration, the country’s economy is now on the path to recovery.
