Emergency imposed in Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Hospitals and Clinics

Karachi, June 13, 2013 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has issued directives to impose emergency at the beginning of monsoon season in all hospitals and medicals under KMC whereas availability of officers, incharges, staff and doctors along with precautionary measures, medicines and all necessary equipment should be ensured so that any unpleasant situation or incident could be dealt properly whereas holidays and leaves of all officers and staff including medical superintendents, medical officers, incharges, doctors, nursing and paramedical staff deployed in KMC hospitals and medicals have been postponed and staff in KMC hospitals and medicals would provide citizens with every possible support and notification has also been issued in this regard through which emergency with reference to forthcoming monsoon in all KMC hospitals and medicals has been imposed which would remain by the end of monsoon season. Besides a central control room with ambulance situated in poly clinic at ground floor of Civic Centre has also been established which would be operative till end of 2013. Earlier KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has directed to complete cleanliness works of all big nullahs of the city as soon as possible so that citizens could be prevented from any inconvenience in monsoon season.

He issued these directives during visit of nullahs located on various locations of the city where he was accompanied by Sr. Director Municipal Services Dr. Shaukat Zaman, Sr. Director I.T. Masood Alam, Chief Engineer Nullah Ibrahim Baloch, Director Machinery Pool Noman Arshad and other officers.

Administrator Karachi during his visit inspected various nullahs located in different areas which include Manzoor Colony, Soldier Bazar, Frere Hall, Gujar Nala, Nehar Khayam, Clifton and Sharea Faisal and directed officers to enhance speed of cleanliness works and remove hindrances in water flow and eliminate possibilities of overflow.

He directed to construct nullah walls on both sides near Nehar Khayam at Clifton. He said due to overflow at this location population of adjoining areas had to face problems in past however Nehar Khayam has been widened after removing encroachments here so that no obstacle in storm water flow should occur and population during heavy rains should be prevented from problems.

Administrator Karachi said that construction of bridge at Gujar Nala has facilitated citizens and wide road for traffic has also been made which has improved traffic flow however it was also responsibilities of citizens that they avoid putting their garbage and debris into nullahs and put garbage only on set locations so that along with cleanliness of nullahs population adjacent areas could be prevented from overflow.

He said that KMC was carrying out cleanliness works of 13 big storm water drains of the city whereas cleanliness of other small nullahs was responsibility of District Municipal Administrations which were in contact so that water drainage of central nullahs could be ensured and along with central locations kachchi abadis and suburban areas should be concentrated and machinery and pumps should be used for water drainage where necessary.
