Ebad thanks British government’s support for acquisition of Generalized System of Preferences plus status for Pakistan

London, November 01, 2012 (PPI-OT): Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan thanked the British support towards the acquisition of GSP plus status for Pakistan. Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan, who is on a visit to UK, met with the British officials including Senior Minister of State for Foreign and Common Wealth Affairs, Saeeda Warsi and Trade and Investment Minster Lord Green separately, at their offices.

He also approached the British officials for investment in various sectors. Sindh ministers Pir Mazhar ul Haq, Raza Haroon and Dr. Sagheer Ahmed and Pakistan’s High Commissioner in Britain, Wajid Shamsul Hassan were with him during meetings.

Dr. Ebad thanked the British government for its support for access of 75 Pakistani products in the European Union. He also drew the attention of the British investors for the investment in the energy sector especially Thar coal, wind energy, Coastal Development and other sectors in Pakistan and expressed the hope that useful results would come to the fore in this regard.

Dr. Ebad requested Ms. Saeeda for cooperation in Fire and rescue Services so that the tragic incidents like Baldia fire could not recur. He apprised her about Rescue 999 and said that better results can be obtained with the British expertise and technical assistance. The British Minister, Ms. Saeeda Warsi, assured him every possible assistance.
