Islamabad, March 04, 2014 (PPI-OT): Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan, Federal Minister for Ministry of National Food Security and Research said that Pakistan and Netherlands have vast potential for collaboration in areas of agriculture and agricultural research. The Minister said this when Ambassador of Netherlands, H.E. De Vink, called him here in Islamabad.
During the course of meeting, Dutch Ambassador, De Vink, apprised that next week a Dutch economic delegation led by Vice Minister for Trade Mr. Simon Smits was visiting Pakistan to explore possibilities to enhance business ties between Pakistan and Netherlands, with an emphasis on water and agriculture.
In this regard, the visiting delegation will also call on Federal Minister for National Food Security to discuss possibilities for business and cooperation in the agriculture and food sector, with particular emphasis on dairy farming and horticulture. Mr. Bosan assured of his ministry’s full cooperation in further enhancing and cementing ties in agriculture sector between the two countries.
Both dignitaries agreed to focus on food security as a major area for future collaboration. Both sides also emphasized upon enhancing collaborative research and sharing of experiences in different areas of agriculture. The Federal Minister also appreciated efforts of Netherlands in providing technical assistance and training to agricultural scientists of Pakistan for ensuring food security in Pakistan.
