Demolition, closure of mosques in Jammu, Srinagar denounced

Srinagar, April 08, 2013 (PPI-OT): The High Court Bar Association in occupied Kashmir has strongly condemned the demolition of a mosque by the authorities at the civil secretariat in Jammu and closure of another at civil secretariat in Srinagar.

During a meeting presided over by the HCBA President, Z. A. Qureshi, the lawyers’ body termed the demolition and closure of mosques a strong provocation to Muslim community in Kashmir.

The Bar said that the puppet administration by demolishing the mosque had demonstrated its Hindu appeasement, said a statement issued after the meeting.

The lawyers’ body said that the regime in collusion with New Delhi was trying to escalate the already complex situation in Kashmir and play the political card. The Bar also condemned the closure of the mosque at civil secretariat in Srinagar.

“The consistency in the provocative actions by the ruling parties starting from the secret and illegal hanging of Mohammad Afzal Guru, desecration of various religious places of Muslims and now the demolition of the mosque in Secretariat Complex at Jammu seems a chain of events aimed at hurting the Muslim sentiment and provoking them to violence,” the statement added.

The meeting also decided that a designated team of lawyers would leave for Doda, Kashtwar and Baderwah for interview with the political prisoners in the respective jails.
