Death Anniversary of Maulvi Abdul Haq ‘Baba-e-Urdu’ Observed

Karachi: The 64th death anniversary of Maulvi Abdul Haq, widely recognized as Baba-e-Urdu, was observed on Saturday. Known for his unwavering commitment to the Urdu language, Maulvi Abdul Haq's contributions have left a lasting impact on linguistic and cultural landscapes.

According to Radio Pakistan, Maulvi Abdul Haq was born in 1870 and began his education in Punjab before attending the M.A.O. College in Aligarh. In 1912, he took on the role of General Secretary of the Anjuman Taraqqi-e-Urdu, an organization dedicated to the advancement of the Urdu language. His efforts significantly bolstered the status and preservation of Urdu across the region.

After migrating to Pakistan, Maulvi Abdul Haq continued his mission by reorganizing the Anjuman Taraqqi-e-Urdu in Karachi, further cementing his legacy as a pivotal figure in the promotion of Urdu. He passed away in Karachi on the same day in 1961, leaving behind a rich legacy of linguistic advocacy and dedication.
