Peshawar, March 28, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has directed the Secretary Local Government, Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners of all over the province that sporadic heaps of garbage lying in the open are a big source of nuisance for the public and has polluted the environment creating serious health hazards, adding that the state of cleanliness generally leaves a lot to be desired.
In a letter written Wednesday the Chief Secretary directed to ensure presence of sanitary staff in Municipal Corporation and all municipal committees to arrange for proper disposal of garbage within 48 hours so as to bring about a visible improvement in cleanliness and also prepare comprehensive plan for the purpose. The letter said that any area can be visited any time to ascertain the situation.
All the Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners have been asked to closely oversee effective implementation of the directive and report progress fortnightly.
