Islamabad, May 22, 2014 (PPI-OT): Chairman Capital Development Authority Mr. Maroof Afzal, on request of Islamabad District Administration directed the Enforcement Directorate to launch an operation in Sabzi Mandi. In its just completed move, CDA levelled to ground more than 1000 stalls including kiosks within Sabzi Mandi, Sector I-11/4 premises.
Sheds in front of many shops were also dismantled during the latest operation. The remaining shops owners were given one day time to voluntarily remove their illegal structures including sheds. Enforcement Directorate men aided by Islamabad Police and District Administration launched the operation against illegal constructions and encroachments in Sabzi Mandi in the morning on Wednesday.
The joint operation prolonged for several hours and concluded before evening. No untoward incident emerged during the whole exercise. The violators were served prior notices for voluntary removal of their encroachments. The operation was launched after the violators failed to abide by the legal notices.
In line with the directions of Chairman CDA, the Authority is committed to clean the city from encroachments and illegal constructions. The activities of Directorate of Enforcement will continue in this regard. All necessary steps are per law would be taken to clear the city from encroachments.
