Islamabad, July 26, 2013 (PPI-OT): Businessmen are playing a vital role in strengthening local economy and CDA would take all required measures to facilitate them in smooth growth of business activities. This was observed by Nadeem Hassan Asif, Chairman CDA while exchanging views with a delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry that called on him in his office led by its President Zafar Bakhtawari.
The delegation was comprised of Tariq Sadiq, Munawar Mughal, Mian Akram Farid, Khalid Iqbal Malik, Mehmood Ahmad Warraich and Saeed Ahmad Bhatti. Chairman CDA said that ICCI would be taken on board on important matters of its interest and all issues of business community would be resolved in consultation in Chamber.
He said CDA is conducting a survey in Islamabad to compile data about the non-conforming activities in industrial, commercial and residential areas. After completion of survey, a strategy will be formulated taking ICCI on board to deal with non-conforming use of properties. He said businessmen should not feel harassed by this survey and should cooperate with CDA to complete this activity.
Chairman CDA said businessmen should cooperate and support CDA in its efforts to overcome the issues and to make Islamabad a model city. He agreed to visit Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry after Eid ul Fitr to discuss issues of trade and industry in detail for redressal.
Speaking at the occasion, Zafar Bakhtawari, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry highlighted the issues which are main hurdles in promoting trade and industrial activities in Islamabad. He said the case of ICCI representation in CDA Board has reached the standing committees of parliament and Chairman CDA should play his role in expediting the matter.
He said establishment of a new industrial estate in Islamabad, allocation of cricket ground to ICCI and allocation a plot to set up a school by ICCI are long standing issues and Chairman CDA should resolve these matters urgently. He said CDA should allow change of trade which would help in improving investment and business activities. CDA had allocated trades 40 years ago, which are not meeting the present day’s requirement and CDA should seriously look into this matter.
The delegation members also highlighted different issues for remedial measures. They said CDA should allow multi-bifurcation of adjacent industrial plots, which will help in promoting industry and improving revenue of CDA.
