Islamabad, July 25, 2014 (PPI-OT): To keep the Federal Capital clean, leave of the staff of Sanitation Directorate of Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been cancelled on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr. This was decided in a meeting held here at CDA Headquarter. Chairman CDA, Mr. Maroof Afzal chaired the meeting.
On this occasion Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed, Member Environment, Syed Mustafain Kazmi, Member Engineering, Shahid Sohail, Director General Civic Management, Director General Water Management and officers of concerned formations of the Authority were also present.
The meeting reviewed the arrangements about the proper sanitation system in Islamabad and to maintain it clean during the Eid-ul-Fitr, provision of uninterrupted supply of water and other allied facilities to the residents of the city.
Chairman CDA, Mr. Maroof Afzal directed the concerned formations of the Authority to deploy the sanitation staff for cleaning the city during the Eid-ul-Fitr in day / night shifts to ensure proper sanitation.
The Chairman said that a large number of people would go for Eid shopping to the markets and marakiz before and during Eid-ul-Fitr, which would also create sanitation problems, adding that Sanitation Directorate would depute its staff for duty in day/night shifts to maintain the cleanliness.
He directed for constitution of special sanitation teams for cleaning the surrounding areas of Masajid before Eid congregations. He also directed the Environment staff for trimming and removal of wild grass, bushes and shrubs before the Eid-ul-Fitr.
Chairman CDA said that due to recent monsoon rains, sufficient storage of water is available; therefore he directed the concerned formations of the authority to ensure uninterrupted supply of water to the residents during the eid holidays as well as alert the water tanker fleet to meet the requirements of the citizens.
On this occasion, the Chairman CDA, Mr. Maroof Afzal directed the Director General Civic Management and Director General Water Management to personally visit different sectors and inspect the arrangement about the sanitation and water supply.
He said that in case of heavy rains during the Eid holidays, the staff of Flood Relief Cell would remain on day / night duty and would not let the rain water accumulate elsewhere in the city. He said that the staff of Flood Relief Cell would remain high alert to cope with natural calamities or any untoward incident.
On this occasion Chairman CDA was apprised that 2000 sweepers of Sanitation Directorate along with supervisory staff and contractor staff would perform the duty during the Eid-ul-Fitr. While all the sanitation related machinery including tractor-trolley, trucks and dumpers would collect the garbage and other solid waste from the city on daily basis and would properly dispose it off.
Besides, the residents of the city can lodge their sanitation related complaints any time on the Help Line-1334 or Telephone No.051-9213908, which would be addressed quickly. Chairman CDA, Mr. Maroof Afzal directed the concerned formations of the Authority to ensure the presence and punctuality of concerned staff on duty for smooth and quick response to the public complaints to address their grievances.
