Body on Planning, Development and Reform meets under chairmanship of Abdul Majeed Khan Khanan Khail

Islamabad, April 28, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Standing Committee on Planning, Development and Reform met today in Parliament House, Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Mr. Abdul Majeed Khan Khanan Khail, MNA to consider the following agenda:-

1. Briefing on:

a) Addition of 3rd and 4th Lane Kashmir Highway from Peshawar More to Golra More (Islamabad).

b) Construction of new Secretariat Block, Constitution Avenue, Islamabad.

c) Establishment of 12 Women Centers / SBBCW in Punjab.

2) Any other item with permission of the Chair.

2. The CDA briefed that addition of 3rd, 4th and 5th lanes to Kashmir Highway from Peshawar More to GT road has been revised by construction of new bridge for the additional carriageway, Islamabad. In addition, rehabilitation and improvement of existing two lanes and construction of three additional lanes on northern and southern carriageway of Kashmir Highway between Peshawar More and GT road measuring 11 km.

Similarly, rehabilitation and extensions of six existing bridges, construction of a grade separated intersection at Golra and box culverts to provide under passes at proposed 10th, 11th and 12th Avenues having capacity of six lanes, proper drainage system, improvement of road junctions and footpaths alongwith allied facility. The CDA informed that the project in question will be completed by 30th June, 2014 which to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

3. Director General, Pak PWD briefed on present status of new Pak Secretariat Block, Constitution Avenue, Islamabad. He stated that work on the main building of new Pak Secretariat Block was started on 19th June, 2007 cost of which comes to approx. Rs. 1884 million. He stated that the building is not worth occupation for at least nine months due to defective planning. He assures the Committee that new Pak Secretariat Block to be completed in six month.

4. MNAs Syed Muhammad Athar Hussain Shah Gillani, Dr. Ibadullah, Ms. Shazia Ashfaq Mattu, Mrs. Shamas-un-Nisa, Dr. Nafisa Shah, Mr. Qaiser Jamal, Sheikh Salahuddin, Ms. Asyia Nasir, Mr. Sher Akber Khan and Mr. Iftikhar-ud-Din were present in the meeting.
