Lahore, February 25, 2015 (PPI-OT): A spokesperson of the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has strongly refuted a news item appeared in a section of media wherein it was stated that the bank account of Dasu Hydropower Project has not been opened so far, which can delay the implementation of the project.
The spokesperson clarified that the said news item is contrary to the fact because the bank account for Dasu Hydropower Project has already been opened. He further said that Dasu Hydropower Project is an important project keeping in view increasing demands of electricity in the country and WAPDA is advancing the project on priority.
Despite opening of the bank account, the news was broadcast that the file containing the documents for opening of bank account was lost and resultantly the account could not be opened. This wrong news was attributed to WAPDA. The Chairman WAPDA has directed Member (Water) to hold an inquiry in this regard and submit a preliminary report in three days positively.
