Authorities snatching livelihood from labourers: Gilani

Srinagar, April 16, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has said that the authorities are exercising their powers to snatch the livelihood of local labourers by awarding work contracts to the outsiders.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement ridiculed that those claiming special status for Jammu and Kashmir were selling resources of the territory and were responsible for anti-labour policies.

Appealing people to boycott work with outsider contractors, Syed Ali Gilani said that outsider contractors should not be allowed to execute contract work to exploit locals. He called for allowing locals to extract sand from rivers, mountains and to provide them royalty rights.

The veteran leader said that the execution of such contracts was being done under conspiracy to exploit local labourers.

Meanwhile, the Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir in a statement expressed concern over continued house arrest of the veteran leader and demanded immediate end to restrictions on him.
